Intelagard Announces Breakthrough Technology for Radiological/Nuclear Extraction Capabilities

Until now, the only options for dealing with radiological/nuclear contamination have been (1) demolish all structures and rebuild the area, or (2) wait for the isotopes to decay to safe levels, which could take decades or millennia. The total economic impact would be devastating. Consider if you will, theea of demolishing and rebuilding historic or symbolic structures, such as the Lincoln Memorial or the Statue of Liberty. Imagine the effect on critical infrastructure, such as oil or port facilities. In these cases, "rubblize and rebuild" is simply not acceptable.

Thanks to a breakthrough in technology by Environmental Alternative, Inc. (EAI), there's now an option that's powerful and effective as well as economical. That option is the use of  new technology, RadPro®.  Intelagard and EAI have formed a strategic alliance to combine decontamination expertise and effective and efficient deployment equipment to offer the homeland defense markets a viable turn-key solution.

RadPro® is a unique, patented process that involves the topical application of several chemical formulas to treat contaminated substrate. The chemical formulas used in varying sequences work in a synergistic manner to extract the radioisotopes from the subsurface migration pathways, pores, and capillaries of the contaminated material. The extraction chemicals are non-hazardous and non-flammable.

The process initially demonstrated its abilities to extract radioactive contaminants for the Department of Energy, but similar applications have been performed for the nuclear utility, fuels processing, medical equipment, and oil and chemical (NORM) industries. The process is effective on both surface and fixed contaminants, as verified by surface smears, core sampling and by direct survey using alpha and beta/gamma detectors.

The ability to remove both surface and fixed contamination is critical in either a radiological dispersion or nuclear event. The use of RadPro® for homeland defense is available exclusively through Intelagard. The standard method of RadPro® deployment for large scale recovery from a nuclear incident is through Intelagard equipment. The time to prepare for a WMD or Radiological Dispersion Device (RDD or “dirty bomb”) is now. Having an executable plan in place with prepositioned equipment and solutions at the ready, with trained personnel at the local level, will save lives as well as critical infrastructure, and lots of money.

A partial listing of contaminants that have been successfully removed is shown below:

EXACTRABLE CONTAMINANTS (Partial Listing) ORGANICS HEAVY METALS Benzene Arsenic Carbon Tetrachloride Beryllium Chlorobenzene Cadmium Chloroform Chromium (all valences) 1,4 Dichlorobenzene Lead (including TEL) 1,2 Dichloroethane Mercury 1,1 Dinitrotoluene Selenium 2,4 Dinitrotoluene Silver Heptachlor   Hexachlorobenzene HERBICIDES/PESTICIDES Methyl Ethyl Ketone Dieldrin Nitrobenzene Endrin Pentachlorophenol Methoxychlor Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB's) Toxaphene Pryidine 2,4 Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid Tetrachloroethylene 2,4,5 Trichloropheneoxyporpionic Acid Trichloroethylene   Trichlorophenol (both 2,4,5, & 2,4,6)   Vinyl Chloride       RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPES (Partial Listing) Americium (241Am) Protactinium (231Pa) Carbon (14C) Radon (222Rn) Cesium (134Cs and 137Cs) Strontium (90Sr) Chromium (51Cr) Tantalum (180Ta) Cobalt (58Co and 60C0) Technetium (99Tc) Iron (55Fe and 59Fe) Thorium (232Th) Lead (210Pb) Tritium (3H) Manganese (54Mn) Uranium (235U and 238U) Niobium (94Nb) Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6) Phosphorus (32P) Yttrium (90Y) Plutonium (232-246Pu) Zinc (65Zn) Potassium (40K)

Why is RadPro® such an important breakthrough technology? Because experts agree that it's a matter of "when" rather than "if" a dirty bomb event occurs. And because today's nuclear waste may become tomorrow's dirty bomb.

Total CBRN solution packages are now available through Intelagard, including the powerful and effective RadPro® radiological/nuclear extraction technology.
