In Memoriam MG Timothy J Lowenberg (Ret.)

On 27 August 2017, DomPrep and the Preparedness Leadership Council  lost a long-time friend and the nation lost a highly revered icon of domestic preparedness and homeland security.  Major General (Ret.) Tim Lowenberg (Washington National Guard) was an advisor and contributor to DomPrep in many ways. He participated in and led executive briefings and panels on preparedness goals associated with the nuclear threat and cybersecurity. He was also an integral part of the Preparedness Leadership Council’s Cybersecurity Working Group. Throughout his life, MG Lowenberg held many positions in the National Guard and in civil roles within the public and private sectors – with operations both domestically and abroad. He led National Guard troops in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He served as a homeland security advisor and consultant. He was a lawyer, law professor, and mentor. He founded the National Homeland Security Consortium. He was a motivational speaker. He was a friend and colleague. As a leader in everything he did, with many awards and honors for his lifetime of work, MG Lowenberg was above all a public servant who sought to protect the lives and safety of all Americans. His knowledge and dedication were the tools that made him an effective advocate for homeland security issues. He will be greatly missed. -Martin (Marty) Masiuk
